The Next Project back at uni is to make a 3D model of a character I have concepted, iterated and developed and then design another character which is a complete opposite of the first.

i.e. Hot / Cold, Good / Bad.

Straight away I began thinking of ideas. I have gone through my old sketch book, in order to remember anything I have darwn that I can iterate. I found an old spy / hit-woman style drawing i had named Silk Cut. I than began iterating on the old design and adding new features while also deciding on the back story of the character. I wanted to tell a story with the design, showing a bit of the characters past.

The story of the Silk Cut character is of a middle aged woman whos family has been killed in a car crash. This woman used to be a hitwoman in the 90's. After she had retired from being a mercenary she had lead a normal life and started a family. When her family has died she investigates the incident to find that the car crash was not a traggic accident but rather a trap set up by an old mysterous enemy meant for her. After the shock of this she falls ill and discovers she has terminal lung cancer. This is largely due to her over whelming smoking addiction. When awaking up to this news she vows to take revenge upon the person responsible for her families death. She has nothing left to lose, which makes her the more deadly. She embracaes the cancer, shaving her head and waiting to die to meet her family for the last time...

(concept sketches)

I do feel that this would be a great comic book series to create when I have the time. I consider the character to be alot like a female Punisher. Dark with a lot of violence.

After having this story explained in my head I can continue concpeting and refining the design. I also have used Pinterest to create a collection of clothing that I envision for the character. For exmaple her main body will be a skin tight diving suit. So I have collected images of diving suits to use for refernce.

I have also took refernce from the old X-men. I like the style of the costumes, big knee pads and the "piping" or "cabling" on the clothing. this is somethinf i wanted to incorporate into my design.

And here is some basic assets I want the character to have. using these as reference I can draw the figure better than I would pulling it out my head. I will also add a Pinterest link to my more detailed mood board.

Initially I had very different ideas as to what the overall feel of the character. So I had made rough ideas and designs and evolved the character that way, rather than using silouettes like in other projects.

At first I thought of going with a more armoured feel for the character, more battle ready.
